Acrylic is an organic compound with the molecular formula C3H6. It is a colorless, odorless, slightly sweet gas that is flammable and produces bright flames when burned. Its explosive limit in air is 2% to 11.1%. It is soluble in water and easily soluble in ethanol and ether.
Acrylic can polymerize to produce polypropylene, copolymerize with ethylene to produce ethylene propylene rubber, undergo benzene alkylation to produce isopropylbenzene, hydrate to produce isopropanol, and oxidize to produce epichlorohydrin, etc.
